Fall is Here!
So it was under 60 degrees this morning which means...It's fall!! I'm so excited for fall sweaters, boots, and knee high socks! So in celebration of the first day of fall I wore all three! :)
As you can see, I'm wearing a long skirt as a short skirt (see my post about that here), my fall sweater, my fall colored knee-high socks (see my post about that here), and my cowboy boots. I'm so excited for fall! :) What are your favourite ways to wear fall colours?
London Styles, Past and Present
Yes I realize this is a picture of a total stranger, it's all for the shorts and tights!
Hello everyone! Long time no see (or read, as the case may be...)! So as many of you know, I went to London this past summer, and was astonished at the difference in styles between Londoners and Americans. Three things that were especially prominent in their present style were Converse shoes, ankle boots, and shorts and tights. I've always believed in shorts and tights, so when I noticed it was all the rage (I saw people wearing shorts and tights over 100 times!) in London I got pretty excited! And ankle boots are just adorable.

Polyvore and Fashion Books
Two things I recently discovered that have rocked my fashion world: Polyvore and The Lucky Shopping Manuel. Polyvore I found out about on Pinterest, and The Lucky Shopping Manuel I found at a resale shop. They are both utterly amazing. I even got my sister hooked on Polyvore, and she doesn't even like clothes! The Lucky Shopping Manuel is written by the editors of the Lucky Magazine, a magazine for fashion. It is the most amazing fashion book I've ever read. And I haven't even read the whole thing yet. I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for tips on style. I swear, the ladies who wrote this book are older versions of me. It's amazing. I'll leave you with this excerpt from the introduction.
"Our book would also be chock full of helpful style hints that we'd culled from particularly fashionable shop girls, pointers we'd picked up at photo shoots, and ideas we'd spied on the street. It would be the Joy of Cooking, but of shopping and style, and we hoped it would become just as dog-eared, tattered, and loved."

The Eye of the Beholder
The flats are nude, the heels are orange
The nude shoes are flats, the orange shoes are heels
Look mom, the heels are the same color as the folder, which is orange!
Look, the flats are the same color as the magazine, which is nude!

Perspective
So, with a little prompting from my aunt, I'm posting this picture. I personally am not that impressed with this look. It came about by accident. I wan't trying to look cute, this was just what worked for the day. A picture ended up being taken and then posted on Facebook, which led to my aunt telling me I should write about it! All that being said, I think that perspective is healthy and good. While I thought I looked like a dork, someone else thought I looked "guud" (her words, not mine). So basically, I'm not always right, and I like other peoples' opinions and perspectives more than mine sometimes! :)

Socks, the Knee-High Kind
I love socks. They are amazing. Apparently, people have caught on to this love of socks, because I keep receiving socks as presents, which is ok with me! I now have 8 pairs of knee-high socks. It seems that socks are normal thing to comment on, or at least an easy thing to comment on, because people always comment. I even had a random ride-runner at the fair tell me he liked my socks, which was interesting. Anyway, since I love them so much, I thought I'd share them with you and give you a little history on my sock collection. :)
I recently received these socks for my birthday. It turns out they match this green shirt I have perfectly, so I wore them right away!
I got these miss-matched socks, along with another one that has stars on it, in Washington DC some years back. These are the ones that evoked a comment from the fair guy... Good thing? Hmm..
My lovely sister got me these socks for me for Christmas last year, I love the buttons!!
I'm not actually sure whether my mom got these for me or my grandma did, but I got them awhile ago. They pretty much go with anything and can be worn anywhere. Plus, they're adorable! :)
My Grandma picked out these socks for me for Christmas last year, they actually have pink and red triangles on them. When I wore them the first time with red shoes, and a pink and purple shirt my sister and I argued for a good 5 minutes about whether the socks actually had red on them. Needless to say, I won.
These are actually the first knee-high socks I received, and I got them to wear underneath a pair of boots that I have. They soon made it out from under the boots!
I suppose these don't particularly count as socks, but I added them in anyway, because I love them! When I showed them to my mom after I bought them I could sense some disapproval. "You don't like them?" I asked. She replied, "I didn't think leg warmers were cute when they were in style, no I don't like them." I wear them anyway...
And lastly, these I received for my most recent birthday from my Aunt. They will most definitely be worn on Easter Sunday. (And maybe Saturday too...)
So anyway, that's my tale of socks, because socks are amazing. They liven up any outfit and make me feel little again! :)

Creativity
I love long skirts, I really do, but sometimes (like today) it's just too hot to wear them. So, with a little creativity, I wore my long blue skirt as a short blue skirt!
Usually I wear this shirt with a green tank top (you can't really tell in the picture, but the shirt does have green in it) under it and jeans. Today, I put the skirt on as a dress, and wore the shirt over top. It turned out pretty cute, with the addition of a few key accessories! :) So the moral of the story is...play around with stuff you think won't work! It just might, and if it doesn't, you can always change!
